A Maldivian student studying in Egypt has died.
The Foreign Ministry said that a male student had died and that he had died of natural causes.
It also said that the student had passed away in the Egyptian capital of Cairo and that the Ministry was in touch with the student's family to provide the necessary assistance.
The Ministry also said that the Maldivian embassy in Abu Dhabi is in touch with the Maldivian students in Egypt since last night.
Sources have identified the student as 19-year-old Minhaaj Easa who had been in Egypt studying Civil Engineering.
Egypt is host to many Maldivian students who pursue higher education in different fields.
