Authorities in the Maldives have given a local nurse arrested in connection with the suspected murder of a Filipino nurse working in the country, 15 more days under police custody.

The suspect had been romantically involved with the deceased nurse's husband.

Maldivian nurse Haleemath Lamha Abdulrahmaan was arrested for the suspected murder of Filipino nurse Mary Grace who was found dead in her home back in October.

The nurse who works at IGMH was found hanging in her apartment in an apparent suicide but unusual circumstances surrounding her death had promoted local authorities to investigate the case as a potential homicide.

It was later discovered that both the husband and the Maldivian lover worked at ER unit of IGMH.

While authorities had arrested Mary's husband Marvin back in October, Police had apprehended Lamha on December 16, 2021, and was remanded in custody for 15 days on the 17th.

Police said since that period has now been completed, the Criminal Court has now given the suspect another 15 days under police custody.

They had said before that postmortem of the victim's body revealed that she is unlikely to have died due to hanging.

Police added that the autopsy result revealed that she had died to blunt injuries.

This refers to injuries caused by forceful impact, falls, or physical attack with a dull object.

It has been reported that Mary allegedly committed suicide after having an argument with her husband, who also works at IGMH, and was also found dead by her husband.
