A 2-year-old child has drowned in Kaafu Guraidhoo.
It was reported that the two-year-old girl was found dead in the sea. It was also reported that the girl lived in a house near the beach on the north side of the island.
Speaking to 'The Press', President of the Guraidhoo Council Hussain Yameen, said the little girl's house is fairly close to the beach and that the tragic incident had occurred just after the child's mother had left her to wash her plate after feeding the girl.
Yameen said that the incident had occurred a few moments ago and that the child was found dead in the sea after her mother had searched for the girl when the toddler had gone missing.
Yameen quoted the grieved family as saying that the incident unfolded within 7 minutes.
He also quoted the hospital to say the girl was already dead when she was brought into the medical facility.
