Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 92 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Sunday.

The Agency reported that 60 out of the 92 new cases were confirmed from inhabited islands while 26 new cases were reported from the Greater Male' Area.

HPA also confirmed 6 new cases from the operational resorts in the country.

This means a total of 86,922 COVID-19 cases have now been reported in the Maldives since March 2020.

The Agency confirmed yesterday that 1,524 people remained as active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that 18 of the COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized for further treatment.

HPA added that 85,145 people have now recovered from the global pandemic in the Maldives.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of 240 individuals in the Maldives since April 2020.

This month alone HPA had reported 9 COVID deaths in the country. Most of those who have succumbed to the illness are elderly locals with underlying health conditions but a few younger individuals have also died from the illness.
