Maldives National Defense Force MNDF has confirmed that its officers are continuing the search for the missing 4-year-old who was swept away during a launch mishap at sea yesterday.

The child was lost at sea after the launch the child was traveling along with 11 others on board nearly toppled due to a huge wave in bad weather conditions. The launch had been traveling en route to Vaavu Atoll when the incident happened and three aboard the vessel were thrown off into the sea during the incident.

Officials have said that this includes two children and their mother and that one child and the mother were rescued while the four-year-old was lost at sea. Tragically the mother later succumbed to her death yesterday.

MNDF had begun the search yesterday and the search for the missing child continues 24-hours after the incident happened off Sun Shiyam Olhuveli Resort.

In the latest update, MNDF said that the search for the lost child is still ongoing and bad weather conditions are hindering the operations.

However, MNDF said that it was using all the available resources in the search operation but the Dornier aircraft given by the Indian government was currently under maintenance.

Meanwhile, the mother, Mariyam Nahida of G. Green Peak was buried after late-afternoon prayers in Male' today. Many took part in her burial after her body was brought to Male' earlier today.

Nahida , along with 3 others were rushed to Kaafu Atoll Guraidhoo health center but the doctors were unable to revive the 33-year-old mother who later died.
