Health Protection Agency HPA has reported an additional 122 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Monday.
HPA said that the new cases include 78 from inhabited islands, 38 from the Greater Male' Area, and 2 new cases from operational resorts. HPA also reported 4 new cases from safaris.
The new cases take the total number of cases reported in the country to 84,484.
HPA added that the positivity rate in the Greater Male' Area is currently at 2 percent.
HPA had said that yesterday that 109 people had recovered from the illness on Monday and that there are 1,564 active cases of the pandemic in the country right now.
The Agency had also said that 16 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 231 individuals in the Maldives since April 2020 and most of those who died are elderly locals with underlying health conditions.
HPA had also revealed that the total cases include 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly related to COVID-19.
