Addu Equatorial Hospital has reported 37 new cases of COVID-19 in Addu City on Tuesday.
The hospital said that this includes 23 locals and 14 foreigners.
It said that with the new cases the total number of cases reported in the city has now reached 915.
The hospital also said that there are 216 active cases of the pandemic in the city and that a total of 696 people have since recovered from the illness in Addu City.
Giving a breakdown of the active cases in the city, the hospital said that the majority of the active cases were in Maradhoo district with 106 cases in the district currently.
It also said that there were 53 active cases of COVID-19 in Hithadhoo district while 24 active cases were reported in Maradhoofeydhoo. It added that there were 22 active cases in Feydhoo while 9 cases were reported from Meedhoo. The hospital said that Gan and Hulhudhoo each shared one active case of COVID-19 currently.
It also said that 3 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The global pandemic has killed 3 people in Addu City.
Authorities in Addu City strengthened the measures they have taken against the illness including a curfew to control movement within the city.
