Maldives National Defense Force MNDF has aided passengers of a fishing vessel that broke into half in the middle of the sea due to bad weather.

MNDF said that the report of a fishing vessel in distress came in around 7:11 am in the morning and that a squadron from the Coast Guard Southern area had rushed to its rescue.

MNDF also said that the vessel named "Mohiri" was out fishing with 25 onboard and that the vessel had been stranded 8.95 nautical miles off of Gaafu Alifu Dhevadhoo.

They said that the vessel had been broken in half and was most likely damaged due to bad weather in the area.

MNDF confirmed that none aboard the vessel had been injured in the unfortunate incident.
