Health Protection Agency HPA has reported an additional 155 new cases in the country on Monday as authorities look to ease more measures taken to curb the spread of the pandemic.

HPA said last night that out of the 155 new cases 28 cases were from the Greater Male' Area and that 70 were from the islands.

The Agency clarified that 26 new cases were confirmed from islands under development while 31 new cases were confirmed from the operational resorts.

HPA said that the number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country has now reached 73,482 with more than 69,300 recoveries.

The Agency had said that now there are 3,883 active cases of COVID-19 in the country and that the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients has now dropped down to 27.

At the beginning of the month, the number of active COVID cases was above 24,000 while there were more than 200 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

The drop in cases has prompted authorities to ease some of the measures taken to deter the spread of the infection and more eases are expected to be announced today.
