Health Protection Agency HPA has reported another COVID-19 death in the country as the daily number of cases reported in the country continues to decline.
HPA confirmed via Twitter that the latest COVID-19 death came from the Hulhumale Medical Facility. HPA said that today at 02:33 am, a 48-year-old local man admitted at the facility had passed away due to COVID-19.
The Agency confirmed that this is the 210th person to die from the pandemic here in the Maldives.
This death takes the monthly death toll for June to 49 with most deaths coming from the Hulhumale medical facility.
Last month still remains the month with the highest COVID-19 fatalities since the pandemic hit the country's shores last year. In May a total of 88 people had succumbed to the pandemic in the country as the Maldives fought its most devastating wave of the pandemic yet.
HPA had also said that the total number of cases reported in the country includes 12 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
