Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH says the foreigner who was injured in a fire at the southern harbor today had suffered burns to 25 percent of his body.

Maldives National Defense Force MNDF had said that a fire incident was reported earlier this morning after 3 launches were engulfed in the blaze.

It had said that the sea vessels were moored at the southern harbor in Male' and that the fire was reported at 06:13 am and that the fire was extinguished around 06: 45 am.

MNDF had said a man was injured in the fire and that he had been taken to IGMH for further treatment.

IGMH had said that the man under treatment is a 25-year-old foreigner and that the man had suffered burns to 25 percent of his body. The hospital added that the man is still under treatment at its ER.

Witnesses present at the scene of the fire said there was a loud explosion before the fire incident.

Police said that a total of 6 launches sustained damages during the fire and that police are now actively investigating the blaze.
