But last night, HPA said in a tweet that it would announce the date for vaccination resumption in the coming days and that it would administer the 1st dose to the general population upon restart.

HPA had overseen the vaccination of 121,630 individuals in the Male' Area alone while a total of 96,416 individuals have been administered the first dose of the vaccine in the Atolls.

The total number of vaccinated individuals have now reached 218,046.

The Agency is currently using the covishield vaccine donated by India and the COVAX facility and had said that the 2nd dose of the vaccine would be given 8 weeks after the first dose.

HPA had before that although it would be the routing vaccination of the second dose next month, it had already administered the 2nd dose under special circumstances.

It had said that this would include medical emergencies and traveling that would see the individual unable to return for the 2nd dose and had said that these decisions had been taken upon the submission of all necessary documents and case-by-case consideration.
