US Ambassador to the Maldives Alaina B. Teplitz has today met with Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail.
The Ministry said in a tweet that the meeting was held to discuss the Maldivian government's recovery efforts and growth plans post COVID-19. It added that this included new investment opportunities in the Maldives.
Meanwhile, in a tweet, US Ambassador Teplitz said that trade between the Maldives and the US increased by nearly 30 percent between 2013 t0 2018.
She said that she was delighted to discuss this positive trend with Economic Minister Fayyaz and that they had discussed other opportunities to increase sustainable investment between the two countries.
Ambassador Teplitz had landed in the Maldives earlier today and said that she returned to Male' for some important meetings that would emphasize US commitment to an independent and prosperous Maldives.
Ambassador Teplitz is expected to meet several other Ministers on her trip to the Maldives this week.
