President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has presented the National Award of Recognition to 24 individuals at a ceremony held to mark National Unity Day last night.

The recipients of the National Award of Recognition received a commemorative plaque. This year's honorees were selected by the National Awards Committee, established by the President for the task.

The 24 honorees who received the National Award of Recognition, in no particular order, are:

  1. Mausoom Saleem, for his contributions in the area of Recitation and Teaching the Holy Quran
  2. Sharafuddeen Ali, for his contributions in the area of Recitation and Teaching the Holy Quran
  3. Abdulla Imad, for his contributions in the area of Recitation and Teaching the Holy Quran
  4. Saudullah Ali, for his contributions to Islamic awareness and Islamic Education
  5. Dr Ashraf Abdul Raheem, for his contributions in the area of Dhivehi literature; in promoting the Dhivehi Language.
  6. Mohamed Thariq, for his contributions in the area of Preserving National Heritage
  7. Hassan Mohamed, for his contributions in the field of Teaching Children with Special Needs
  8. Dr Jumailath Beygum, for her contributions in the areas of Raising Awareness and Promoting Public Health through the Health Sector
  9. Dr Mohamed Solih, for his contributions to Health Sector Development
  10. Dr Mohamed Shafiu, for his contributions to Health Sector Development.
  11. Maeedh Mohamed Zahir, for his contributions in Social Services; Youth Empowerment, Social work and Charity work
  12. Saudulla Hilmy, for his contributions in the area of Social Services; conducting Socially Beneficial Programmes
  13. Mohamed Mazin, for his contributions in the area of Social Services; conducting Socially Beneficial Programmes.
  14. Hassan Hussain Fulhu, for his contributions in the area of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises; field of Sewing and Needlework.
  15. Sheeza Imad, for her contributions in the area of Haircare and Beauty; contributions to the development of human resources and capacity-building
  16. Ali Samaan, for his contributions in the area of Promoting and Disseminating News and Information.
  17. Ali Khushruwan Ahmed, for his contributions in the field of Sports; Developing Water Sports
  18. Abdulla Areef, for his contributions in the field of Sports; Developing Water Sports.
  19. Ibrahim Hussain, for his contributions in the field of Sports; Developing Water Sports
  20. Shujau Saleem, for his contributions in the field of Sports; Developing Professional Athlete

Speaking during the ceremony tonight, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih extended his congratulations and warm wishes to all the recipients of this year’s National Awards.
