Maldives Customs services have confiscated huge amounts of alcohol and pork under its authority.

Customs said that these items were confiscated yesterday at Thilafushi in front of customs officers and members of the media.

It said these items include 8719.02 liters of alcohol and 2220.5 kilograms of pork.

Such items are confiscated under the articles 264, 423, and 424 of the Customs General Regulations.

Confiscated items include those that have expired while under storage at customs bonded warehouses and other banned items in the Maldives that has been seized while being smuggled into the country.

Earlier this year, Customs had confiscated another batch of seized items including alcohol and pork.

This includes 4613 bottles of liquor, 32 bottles of wine, and 6835 kilograms of pork.
