Defense Ministry says the Maldives National Defense Force MNDF is set to hold a special military drill in the Greater Male’ Area.
The Ministry said that MNDF would hold its exercise from the 20th to the 24th of this month.
It said that the military drill would cover Hulhule’, Hulhumale’, and Male areas.
It also said during the exercises conducted at Hulhumale’ Phase II, the MNDF would use blanks and pyrotechnics in their drill and assured that these drills would be conducted far away from the civilian population there.
MNDF had held a military drill last month and conduct such exercises on a regular basis, frequently using weapons and firearms.
MNDF had said that these drills are not conducted because of imminent danger to the security of the country but rather to ensure the readiness of its soldiers if such a threat is to emerge.
