Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH has confirmed that the COVID-19 flu clinic operated behind Male’ Hiya would close its doors later this month.
IGMH said that the flu clinic would be shut down next Sunday and did not reveal why the flu clinic is being closed down.
But it did say the flu clinic being operated at Military Hospital Senahiya would continue to treat patients.
The flu Clinic behind Male’ Hiya started out as a travel clinic designated for travelers coming into the country with suspected symptoms of COVID-19. But authorities had later changed it to a flu clinic.
Public Health officials have been running these flu clinics throughout the country since the COVID-19 outbreak in the Maldives earlier this year and members of the public frequently visit these clinics oftentimes presenting with COVID-19 like symptoms.
Recently, the Health Emergency Operations Center HEOC had said that the number of people seeking treatment at these center have increased and noted it as a worrying sign.
