Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) currently under the helm of Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir, have decided to tie up with Maldives Opposition coalition towards political efforts.

Currently the opposition coalition consists of Progressive Party of Maldives, which saw its leadership hit a void after its frontman the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom got jailed over money laundering charges, along with PNC.

According to the Maldives Opposition, the Kaashidhoo constituency lawmaker along with the top brass of DRP met with them on Wednesday afternoon at PPM office for discussions. Jabir along with his political party DRP assured cohesive work with the opposition towards political reform.

The Wednesday discussion was attended by the President and top officials of PNC along with senior members of PPM.

Although the opposition coalition confirm of the meeting, they had not disclosed the nature of the discussions or any other information.

While DRP have announced its commitment, its leader Abdulla Jabir on Monday had voiced out stern calls to release the imprisoned former President. The Kaashidhoo MP had called out these statements amidst the public at Male' Local Market which attract people in high numbers.

During his visit to the prime public venue of Male' City on Monday, Jabir had also requested from the people to elect him in the next presidential election - making his planned candidancy apparent.
