A two year old infant has tested positive for Covid-19 from the island of Thaa atoll Vilufushi according to health authorities.
According to Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) the test conducted on home-quarantine individuals who traveled to the island from Male' City, had shown positive results for Covid-19 from the infant.
Earlier, two children had tested positive for the viral contagion on Saturday after the post-quarantine test was conducted. The cases were discovered from Alif Dhaal Maamigili - a six year old patient, and from Faafu atoll Nilandhoo - a four year old patient.
Meanwhile Maldives reports a total of 5,909 positive cases inclusive of both active cases and recoveries. The total recoveries as of Tuesday, 18 August, have reached to 3,488 while a total of 118 individuals tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday from Greater Male' Region. Another six cases were reported from various atolls.
So far updates from Ministry of Health reveal a total of 2,389 active cases out of which 138 have been hospitalized while 1,478 individuals remain in isolation facilities.
