Health authorities on Monday, 18 August 2020, reports yet another demise due to Covid-19 virus.

According to authorities a 41 year old woman passed away from complications rising due to contracting the viral contagion. With her demise, the total number of death in relation to Covid-19 has increased to 24.

Meanwhile the mortality rate according to the most recent update from Ministry of Health on their dashboard reveals to be at 0.39 percent, while Maldives still remains among the countries with the lowest number of death related to Covid-19.

Moreover the statistics further reveal, based on the latest updates, a total of 5,909 positive cases inclusive of both recoveries and active cases.

Maldives reports a total of 3,485 recoveries which is a 58.98 percent recovery rate while 2,401 individuals remain as active cases and in treatment with 146 out of these being hospitalized.

However, the deaths related to Covid-19 in recent weeks have come at close proximities while the number of positive cases reported in every 24-hour window remain at alarming levels.
