Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) confirm a total of 13 recoveries on Wednesday, 5 August 2020.

The confirmation was made by HEOC's spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq, who attests the recoveries have been accounted for in the last 24 hour window.

Meanwhile health authorities confirm 148 new Covid-19 positive cases in the same day which includes 117 Maldivians with the remainder being expatriates.

So far the island nation reports a total of 4,594 positive cases inclusive of both recoveries and active cases. With Wednesday's figures the total number of active cases have increased to 1,869 while 1,282 individuals remain in isolation facilities.

On the other hand the Covid-19 virus has claimed a total of 19 lives in Maldives which includes 5 expatriates and the remainder being locals. The cases mostly include elderly local citizens.

The recent surge has tipped the scale towards more number of positive cases in comparison with recoveries made.
