Maldives government on Tuesday afternoon, 4 August, announces curfew hours once again effective to Greater Male' Region.
The decision for a curfew in Maldives capital comes amid growing positive case rates in the region post lift-off of lockdown measures.
Meanwhile the declaration for curfew hours were mad during Tuesday's press conference at Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC).
According to the authority, Greater Male' Region will have curfew hours starting from 22:00hrs every evening until 05:00hrs of the following day, with complete restriction of public movement during the said hours.
Maldives Police Service are expected to man the streets during the said hours to ensure safety and intervene anyone breaching the protocols.
The Greater Male' Region, inclusive of the country's capital faces a second wave of positive cases increasing every following day after government placed ease on restrictive measures.
Moreover the total number of positive cases reported in the country have reached 4,293 inclusive of both active cases and recoveries.
So far the island nation reports a total of 2,670 recoveries which is a 62.19 percentage of recovery rate while 18 deaths have been confirmed due to Covid-19 while a 19th death was reported on Tuesday afternoon.
Health Ministry reports a total of 2,178 Maldivians contracting the viral contagion while 1,687 Bangladeshis contracted the disease so far.
It has been a total of 150 days since the discovery of the first case in the country while a total of 920 individuals remain in isolation after contracting the disease.
