The Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) have requested from the local law enforcement authority to probe the allegations made on Ahmed Fazeel, the Communication Director of Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Marine Resources.

According to the political party of which Fazeel is a member of, it has lodged an official request with Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Aishath Mohamed Didi and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed to conduct an investigation regarding the matter.

Fazeel, who at the time of receiving multiple allegations of sexual harassment, have been suspended from his held designation.

Moreover, MRM notes it had requested with Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to exclude the now suspended director from work until the end of his case.

The now suspended director has received multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, harassment and a case of rape from several alleged victims - made public on social media platforms.

Furthermore, he is alleged of sending unsolicited pictures and videos to minors and others on several occasions.

The director's sexual allegations have come amid a time when several high-profile government officials have come under public and media scrutiny for similar allegations. Cases have been lodged against Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed as well as the President's Office Communications Director.
