MNDF Coast Guard has confirmed that 9 individuals stranded at sea after their fishing vessel sank off the coast of kaafu Atoll Huraa have now been rescued
MNDF said that a fishing vessel named ‘Kandu Roadhi-1’ had sank 17 miles north of Male’ near Huaraa fishing buoy after being caught in high seas due to bad weather.
MNDF stated that after the boat sank the nine on board were left stranded in the sea and were picked up by another fishing vessel near the area.
It said that a coast guard speedboat had checked the status of the stranded men picked up by the other vessel and that the vessel was on route to Male’.
Meanwhile, the Met Office had today issued a white alert from Haa Alifu Atoll to Addu City.
It said that rough seas and wave surges were expected in some islands between 10:45 am to 15:00 pm.
