Maldives National Defense Force MNDF Coast Guard is searching for a man reported missing from a boat on route to Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Mandhoo.
MNDF said earlier today, the crew from a boat called ‘Ranthari’ reported that one of its passengers was missing and that officers from the coast guard was now conducting a search for the missing person.
Citing the crew, MNDF said that the man was seen inside the boat when it entered the lagoon of Mandhoo but disappeared when the vessel neared the jetty to disembark passengers.
MNDF identified the missing person as Ali Shaahu, 27, of Raivilla ge, Alifu Dhaalu Mandhoo. MNDF added that he was last seen wearing a checkered shirt and gray jeans.
It said that islanders from Mandhoo as well as officers from Mandhoo police station were also searching for the missing person.
MNDF urged neighboring islands and other vessels to notify the relevant authorities about any information of the missing man.
The man traveled to Mandhoo to place himself under home quarantine as per the guidelines set by Health Protection Agency amid the COVID-19 pandemic here in the Maldives.
