The Policy Director at Ministry of Tourism Mohamed Hassaan Fuad has been terminated from his designation following the sacking of Minister Ali Waheed.
President's Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Hood confirms Fuad's termination has been linked with sexual harassment allegations of ex-Minister Waheed. However, Hood did not disclose any further information regarding the matter.
While the ministry's Policy Director has faced termination, the authority's Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed was ordered to resign from his held designation earlier by Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
However, the ex-minister's refusal for a resignation resulted in the government terminating him from office on Thursday, 9 July 2020.
The embittered ex-minister is alleged with multiple counts of sexual harassment targeted towards a number of female employees at the ministry.
