The Anti Corruption Commission ACC says it will review the case involving the illegal oil sales worth USD 800 million.

In a statement, ACC said that just as MP for Villimale constituency had suggested before the Attorney General’s Office had forwarded the documents on the investigation on an allegedly illegal oil sale by STO Maldives Singapore Ltd to the ACC.

ACC said that the investigation was opened in relation to a complaint submitted to the Commission on the 11th of May 2011 but with insufficient information to further the investigation the commission filed its findings on the 8th of May 2018.

It said the commission still had the documents in its possession and will review the investigation once again.

Former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom had been accused of masterminding the illegal purchase while he managed STO during the reign of brother Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

Former President Mohamed Nasheed had assigned a foreign company to dig deeper into the allegations during his term and had recently said that his government was toppled back in 2012 on the day it had planned to release the findings of the investigation.
