President of PNC Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adurey) says the speaker of the Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed is deeply disturbed after former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik joined the opposition ranks.

He made the comments while speaking at a news conference held by the opposition coalition.

Adurey said that the ruling MDP has been only been speaking about the USD 800 million that former President Yamin Abdul Gayoom allegedly stole because MDP is nervous that Dr. Waheed joined the opposition as a special advisor.

He joked that former President Nasheed has lost sleep over the appointment.

Adurey said the allegations against former President Yamin were false and that they were created by MDP. He added that under an MDP government spent much to have a foreign party investigate the allegations and that the investigations came up empty.

Adurey accused that the allegations were aimed at former President Yamin to conceal the corruption and exploitation made under an MDP government and the reports compiled after the investigation would reveal the truth of the matter.

MDP alleges that under the reign of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, then Chairman of STO former President Yamin had stolen USD 800 million made from oil sales and investigated the allegations when it came into power.

MP for Maafannu Hulhagu Constituency and MDP member Mohamed Falaah had submitted an emergency motion to the parliament yesterday stating the former President Dr. Waheed had buried the report of the investigation.

Speaking during the debate of the motion, Speaker Nasheed cited that the demise of his government was brought about on the day the report was set to be published.
