Sources have confirmed that the pipe had been leaking for days and that people had been seen enjoying a swim in the wasters even yesterday.

Rasfannu and the surrounding waters are popular swimming areas for the general public although such activities have been halted due to the lockdown implemented in Male' Area following the massive spread of Covid-19.

But as the government eased lockdown measures earlier this week, more people are expected to use Rasfannu and surrounding waters.
