A case of sexual molestation have surfaced from Filitheyo quarantine facility involving an officer of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

According a source close with the apparent victim of the incident, the facility commander had attempted to sexually molest a 19 year old female at the premises on Thursday.

It was reported the MNDF officer who is acting as the facility's commander deceptively isolated the victim of the incident, sequestering the female to a vacant room.

Additionally, the source commented the incident occurred between the said MNDF commander and a recent repatriate from Sri Lanka, who flew to Maldives on 10 June.

Moreover, it was learned the victim of the apparent incident had flown together with one of her peers and initially were placed in separate rooms. However, both of the women were later on changed to share a single room.

Furthermore, the source adds the victim of molestation suffers from panic induced attacks and was consulted to a doctor over elevating conditions. It was reported the victim was then transferred to a separate room after it was advised she will be provided with faster care from the doctor by staying close in vicinity the medical practitioner's room.

The source explained Thursday's events stating the victim was hauled off by the commander on the pretext of consulting to the doctor, but following this she had entered the room in a state of crying.

It was reported the officer had made unsolicited sexual advances towards the victim.

Meanwhile, the MNDF authority was not able to reach for a comment regarding the incident.
