Health Protection Agency HPA says 32 more individuals have recovered from Covid-19 in the Maldives as authorities announce more lockdown eases.

In a tweet, HPA said in the last 24 hours 32 people had recovered from the illness and that the total number of recovered individuals has now risen to 1153.

The number of new cases reported each day has been decreasing as HPA reported 14 new cases yesterday.

This includes 5 Maldivians, 8 Bangladeshis, and a Sri Lankan national. This takes the total number of Covid-19 cases in the Maldives 1976 with 813 active cases of the global pandemic now in the Maldives.

HPA also said that 797 people remained in isolation while 306 people were kept under quarantine.

Eight people have died of Covid-19 in the Maldives including four locals and four Bangladeshi nationals. The locals who died of Covid-19 are all above 80-years of age while the Bangladeshi nationals who died were of young age.

The Male’ Area has been under lockdown since the 15th of April but authorities have now announced that more restrictions would be eased in a few days time.
