Maldives Police Service confirmed arresting at least 15 individuals on Thursday for lockdown violations.
Greater Male' Region is currently experiencing a total lockdown since 15 April, after the Maldives capital was discovered with Covid-19 virus.
While a double-digit arrest count was lodged on Thursday, the total number of arrests made for direct breaches against lockdown regulations have reached 420.
Moreover, local law enforcement authority confirm the highest number of arrests made from Male' City, which was at 377.
In addition to the arrests on Thursday, 247 were fined for their offenses against lockdown regulations. Meanwhile the total number of fines have reached 7398, out of which 6555 individuals were fined at Male' City.
Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) further noted a menial number of individuals settling their fines at the authority.
During a press conference, it was revealed by Maldives Police Service that some of the individuals who were arrested earlier have been discharged.
However, the law enforcement authority further asserted they have sent the cases of said individuals to Prosecutor General's Office to press charges.
