The Maldives Parliament held its Tuesday's sitting with members wearing face masks and practicing safe social distancing procedures.
The attending lawmakers were made to sit within an acceptable distance between each other. Each member had two vacant spots or desks between the other member inside the chambers.
Parliament Speaker, members of the parliament and administrative staff present inside the chambers all wore face masks to ensure safety.
Lawmakers discoursed over the proposed amendment to Maldives Constitution in order to amend the term of local councils, which under the current Act will conclude on 2 June.
Earlier, several members of the parliament had argued over either extending the term of local councils or postponing the council elections - while the elections have been postponed in light of Covid-19 community spread.
