Health Protection Agency HPA confirms 24 new cases for Covid-19 as the country gears up for the new normal way of life.
In a tweet, HPA said that 4 locals, 18 Bangladeshis and 2 Indians tested positive for Covid-19 today.
This takes the total number of positive cases of Covid-19 in the Maldives to 1395.
Authorities have said that 144 people have now recovered from the virus in the Maldives with the Island nation recording 4 Covid-19 deaths. This includes 3 locals above the age of 80 years and a 33-year-old Bangladeshi national.
Last week the government indicated that it would relax some of the restrictive measures taken against the global pandemic and have since permitted islands that are not under monitoring to resume communal prayers.
Communal prayers are still banned in the Male' area and islands that were under monitoring in the last 28 days.
The government is expected to ease the lockdown of Male' area when it expires on the 28th of this month.
