National Emergency Operations Center Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez says the Maldives has received 129 ventilators to bolster its efforts against the global pandemic Covid-19.

Updating the local media on the latest developments in the fight against Covid-19, Mabrook said 10 out of the 75 ventilators ordered from Dubai had arrived in the Maldives yesterday.

Mabrook said with this addition the Maldives now has 129 ventilators to treat Covid-19 patients.

He also said that all the beds required for ICU wards and Isolation facilities have also arrived in the Maldives. He added that the Health Ministry was working to restock PPE kits in all the healthcare facilities across the nation.

Government contractor MedTech delivered the 10 ventilators that arrived yesterday. This is the second time the company is delivering supplies under its contract with the government with a batch of 18 ventilators arriving in the country earlier this month.

The government had awarded a contract worth MVR 34 million to the company to procure and deliver 50 ventilators.
