Foreign Ministry confirms that the repatriation flight to Bangladesh scheduled to depart today has now been canceled.

Speaking to ‘The Press’ the Ministry’s Communication Director Mohamed Miuvaan said the chartered flight from national carrier Maldivian flying from Male’ to Bangladeshi capital Dhaka was canceled due to bad weather.

He said that these repatriation flights are unscheduled and canceled flight is yet to be rescheduled.

The flight had been scheduled to repatriate some 200 Bangladeshis living in the Maldives

Yesterday, 67 undocumented Bangladeshi nationals departed the Maldives via a Bangladeshi military aircraft with 68 others also traveling back to the country the day before yesterday.

On Saturday, the Maldivian government chartered a Biman flight to repatriate 353 Bangladeshi nationals living in the country.

Earlier this month the government had said that it was working to send back 1500 undocumented migrant workers from Bangladesh.
