Health authorities of Maldives on Tuesday evening have confirmed yet another new batch of Covid-19 case discoveries.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Tuesday, around 21:00hrs claimed 7 new patients positive for the virus have been discovered.

The authority reported the batch consisted of 03 Bangladeshis, 02 Maldivians and 02 Indians.

With the latest update, the total confirmed cases in Maldives have surged to 904 - closing in on the 1,000 mark.

Expatriates report the highest number of positive cases while health authorities claim 28 vulnerable residences with expat 'stockpiling' have been placed under monitoring.

Health authorities attest a total of 495 Bangladesh nationals contracted the virus in Maldives, while positive cases of locals were at 304.

Expatriates from India are the third most reported nationality with positive cases in Maldives.

While Maldives now reports a total of 31 recoveries, 03 deaths due to the virus have been documented as well. The victims included to local elderly citizens and one middle-aged expat who had other critical health conditions as well.
