Male’ City Council says construction work has resumed in Male’ under strict guidelines set by Health Protection Agency HPA.
City Council said that with the greater Male’ Area under lockdown following the Community transmission of the Covid-19 virus, construction work in the city had been brought to a halt.
However, it said that construction work would now be resumed under guidelines set by both HPA and the council.
These guidelines said that construction workers must maintain social distancing while on-site and a worker who has tested positive for Covid-19 or a worker who has been identified, as a contact of a positive patient must return to work only after completing the 14-day mandatory isolation period.
The guidelines set by City Council said that workers who show signs of Covid-19 must not be allowed to work on-site and that workers should not be moved to any other location other than the construction site.
Additionally, the guidelines said that workers should wear heavy-duty masks and gloves while on-site and should be encouraged to frequently wash their hands. The guidelines also asked employers o ensure that their works can maintain strict handwashing practicing by providing efficient resources.
Male’ City Council said 11 parties have been granted permission to resume construction work as per the guidelines.
