Health Protection Agency HPA reports that 24 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 today as authorities warn of a spike in cases in the next two weeks.
In a tweet, HPA said that 20 Bangladeshi nationals, 3 locals, and 1 Indian were tested positive for the highly contagious virus.
HPA said that this includes samples from active surveillance of vulnerable homes.
Today’s positive cases take the total number of Covid-19 cases in the Maldives to 642.
20 people have recovered from the virus in the Maldives while 2 people have died of Covid-19 in the country.
This includes an 83-year-old local woman and 33-year-old Bangladeshi national.
