Parliament Committee on Human Rights and Gender makes a proposal that ensures the safety and well-being of children whose parents or guardians test positive for Covid-19 with no other family members to take their responsibility.
In a report on the Covid-19 related issues within the mandate of the committee, it said when the guardian or parent of a child or a person with a disability is tested positive for the virus, and even if there is no one to temporarily take responsibility of the child or person with a disability, there should be a mechanism to ensure their safety.
Moreover, the report also said that for those children tested positive for Covid-19 and currently isolated in the facilities if the medical condition of the parents are guardians deteriorate to a point where they cannot care for the children, there should be a guideline on how to the centers should be prepared for such circumstances and how they should afford this care to such children.
The report also highlighted the need to establish guidelines on how to provide psychological support to children who test positive for Covid-19.
The committee has sent the report to the parliament chamber with the report on today agenda.
