Authorities on Sunday evening confirmed investigation of the Health Protection Agency website's breach has commenced.

Minister of Communication, Science and Technology Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal confirmed on Sunday, 03 May, the hacking the health authorities website is currently being investigated to trace perpetrating parties.

The minister lambasted the breach of HPA's website by yet unknown hacker(s) who had uploaded a video message warning Maldives authorities over possible future 'attacks' of the same nature.

Minister Maleeh Jamaal criticized the perpetrators for their act of cowardice amid a sensitive period of time.

The minister further assured relevant authorities will be investigating the breach to identify suspects.

In the video, uploaded by the apparent cyber criminal or criminals, the warning is directed at the incumbent President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his administration.

The video warning alleged the incumbent government of exploiting the socio-economic crisis in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The individual appearing on the video, concealed behind a Guy Fawkes mask further claimed their movement was that of a resistance.

The unknown individual appearing in the video further lambasted Maldives government, alleging the state have failed in protecting the rights of its citizens adding they [the apparent perpetrators] do not believe the current government was capable of maneuvering the country's future towards prospective outcomes.

Moreover, the video message alleged Indian government of 'seizing control' of the Maldives state. The masked individual claims the South-Asian giant have 'bought' fealty of the Maldives state officials and the government.

The video message appeared on the HPA website placed several accusations on the current government over misconduct, corruption and exploitation of state funds.

The video message further claimed corporate elites received state favors and funding through Covid-19 relief funds while ordinary businesses continued to face severe economic losses.
