The first MNDF officer who contracted the Covid-19 virus have made a recovery and resumes duty according to latest updates.

Maldives National Defense Force media official speaking with The Press confirmed the officer tested positive for the virus after arriving the country post completion of a course at UK.

"We are honored to welcome back our fellow soldier WO1 Muammar Mohamed, the first Maldivian who tested positive for COVID-19" read the statement on Major General Abdulla Shamaal's post on Twitter.

"He has recovered [and] promptly joined the forces to serve the nation. We applaud his dedication" Shamaal added.

The officer is also reported as the first Maldivian who tested positive for the viral contagion. Local authorities confirmed his then condition of testing positive to the disease on 27 March.

However, authorities did not disclose any personal information or identity of the individual back at the time of initial confirmation.

The Warrant Officer Grade 1, Muammar Mohamed have personally confirmed of his recovery on Twitter as well.

Meanwhile, the Maldives Minister of Defense of her official Twitter handle have welcome the Warrant Officer's resumption of duty post recovery.

Authorities confirm 19 days have elapsed since the community spread was declared. As of now the island nation has a total of 527 confirmed positive cases of the Covid-19; inclusive of the recoveries.

Though Sunday's confirmation have been significantly lower than previous days, HPA reported 8 individuals tested positive as of the current 24-hour cycle.
