The owners of the luxury tourist property, Velaa Private Island is expected to donate medical equipment to the government of Maldives in efforts to combat COVID-19.
Reports claim Velaa Private Island's owner Jiri Smejc along with co-shareholder Daniel Kretinsky are expected to donate:
- 10,000 test kits
- 05 ventilators
- 200 respirators
- 500 PPE Kits
Local travel and tourism tabloids have reported the test kits will reach Maldives via private jets sometime on Sunday. The Czech Republic billionnaires are expected to land at Noonu atoll Maafaru on Sunday with the medical items.
Many international countries are directing their assistance and donations to the island nation in the wake of intensifying COVID-19 crisis; with mounting positve cases everyday.
Maldives reports a total of 491 positive cases to the viral pandemic, while authorities are uncertain when the community spread will be completely controlled.
Meanwhile, the government of Maldives have been assisted by both American and Japanese governments with emergency grants in the efforts to combat the viral pandemic.
