Health Protection Agency HPA confirms 6 new cases of Covid-19 in the country taking the total number of individuals tested positive for the virus to 226.

In a tweet, HPA said the latest 6 cases include 1 Bangladeshi national and five Maldivians.

HPA had reported 12 new cases of Covid-19 in the country today. Yesterday HPA reported a staggering 73 new cases of Covid-19 in the country. This was the highest daily count of cases since the crisis began.

The spike in cases was reported after a local with no recent travel history tested positive for Covid-19 on the 15th of this month. Since then 206 people have tested positive for the global pandemic.

Seventeen people have recovered from the illness in the Maldives. Two positive cases have left the country.

207 people are still under treatment including all the individuals tested positive after the community spread of the virus and the Maldivian who tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from the Philippines.
