Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives have moments ago, confirmed another 14 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 virus.
The latest tweet from the official handle of the agency confirmed Maldives health authorities had in fact discovered 9 Bangladeshi expats, 1 Pakistani national, 1 Indian and 3 Maldivians with the virus.
The affected individuals will be moved to an isolation facility for treatment.
Earlier on Sunday, 26 April 2020, HPA had confirmed 36 positive cases to the viral contagion. HPA, around dawn of Sunday revealed 29 Bangladeshi nationals, 6 Maldivians and 1 Indian had tested positive for the virus.
With the latest update, the total number of positive cases within a 24-hour window have risen to 50 in Maldives.
Maldives currently reports a total of 191 positive cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19); including the 17 recoveries and the two Italian tourists who were discovered carrying the virus after reaching their home country.
Based on the health authority's latest update, the total number of affected persons in treatment at isolation facilities have risen to 172. Meanwhile, HPA confirmed the contagion have pushed for a community spread; in Maldives capital.
Maldives Police Service had also claimed 18 buildings accommodating expatriates are currently under monitoring.
