A total of seven sea vessels have completely burned down from a blaze on earlier hours of Wednesday, 15 April 2020.
The fire had struck around dawn of Wednesday resulting in the complete damage of five speed boats and two dinghies.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) claims they received the report of fire around 05:45hrs. Officers were dispatched to control the flame at the island's harbor.
The authority further confirmed no casualties of injuries reported in the incident though the properties sustained severe damage.
Officers of Maldives Police Service were active at the site of incidence to assist MNDF.
MNDF fire and rescue team had extinguished the flame completely around 08:05hrs on Wednesday morning.
The vessels had included two sea-ambulances and one police speed boat. Reports have confirmed the fire had started in one of the sea ambulance vessels.
Meanwhile, suspicion have been drawn over the possibility of the incident being an act of deliberance.
Maldives Police Service have commenced investigation to extract details regarding the nature of the incident.
