Foreign Ministry says Maldivians can now send care packages to their families stranded in Bangkok amid the Covid-19 global pandemic.
The Ministry said because of the outbreak in the city, Maldivians living there are finding it difficult to secure basic necessities. The Ministry said a plane from national airline Maldivian is scheduled to make a trip to Bangkok on the 16th of April and Maldivian families can send care packages to their families in Bangkok via this flight.
Foreign Ministry urged those who want to send care packages to fill and submit the necessary form to the Ministry.
Items that can be sent as care packages include:
- Canned Tuna case
- Noodles case
- Rihaakuru (only bottles packed by Mifco or Enzi in their original casing)
- Packed fish/ packed fried leaves and other packed good sold in retail stores
- Chili Paste, Chili fish (In original packing with label)
The Ministry said the packages would be collected on Wednesday between morning 09:00hrs to afternoon 15:00hrs from a special counter located at the departure hall of Velanaa International Airport.
Government has successfully sent care packages to Maldivians living in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and India.
