National carrier Maldivian’s repatriation flights have brought 205 Maldivians home from Trivandrum.
The Maldivians were brought back on two flights with the first one landing in Velanaa International Airport VIA around 13:30hrs with 50 Maldivians onboard the plane.
Second plane with the rest of the rescued Maldivian made it’s landing around 15:30hrs in the country’s main aviation hub VIA. All 207 arrivals will be placed under quarantine as per Health Protection Agency HPA’s guidelines to combat against Covid-19.
Meanwhile Maldives Consulate General in India’s Trivandrum provided consular assistance to the Maldivian nationals stranded in the City.
In a tweet, the consulate said it coordinated evacuation of the 207 national back to Maldives by providing airport transport services to the Maldivians.
National Carrier Maldivian has already scheduled repatriation flights to Lanka, Cochin and Malaysia.
It is expected to make more flights to other cities including India’s Bangalore where many Maldivians are stranded with India imposing a 21-day lockdown to fight against Covid-19.
