Tourism Ministry urges resorts not to sent staff to the airports without flight confirmation.

The Ministry said with most resorts suspending operations because of the Covid-19 crisis, complaints of resort managements illegally issuing job termination notices and also forcing staff to take unpaid leave have become rampant.

The Ministry also said it has received complaints that some resorts are transporting their foreign workers to the country’s main hub Velaanaa International Airport without their flight confirmation.

The Ministry called on all tourist facilities in the Maldives to abide by the country’s laws and regulation and not to transport staff to the airport without flight confirmation.

Tourism Ministry said it would take legal action against those who fail to comply with this appeal.

The Ministry thanked resorts and facilities setting examples for other sin these trying times and highlighted the need for government and the industry to work together to endure the crisis.
