Official spokesperson for Covid-19 updates in Maldives Mr. Mohamed Mabrouk Azeez says 10 tons of cargo arrived from Thailand yesterday.

Speaking to the Media, Mr. Mabrouk said the 10 tons of cargo from Thailand include foodstuff, vegetables and medicines. He added that this cargo also included goods for local businesses.

With global pandemic Covid-19 causing major disruptions for the aviation industry, commercial passenger flights have since stopped flying to Maldives. As a result Maldivian businesses are facing difficulties transporting their goods into the country.

Government is working to ease these difficulties by having discussions with neighboring countries. National Carrier Maldivian have been chartering one of it’s cargo flights to Lanka to transport cargo from the country into Maldives.
